What Does The Future Hold For Music Retail?
It seems sun worshippers were not the only ones to fall foul of the recent bad weather, music retailer HMV suffered such a slump in sales that it is being forced to shut 40 stores. The news comes as blow to the entertainment giant who also own Waterstone's stores as the buzz around music piracy had seemed to calm down of late.
There will always be a demand for physical products, despite the widespread ownership of iPods and other MP3 players, the fact remains that people still use CDs. Though this is true, HMV is still not safe, at least in the offline retail space because other online retailers of physical products like Play.com can undercut their prices, meaning consumers will choose to spend their személyi kölcsön
online.
High street stores cannot fight the battle with ecommerce, rather than competing they must learn to adapt and offer new ways to shop, prioritising online interaction. Making purchases on the web means consumers get better value for money and a quicker service. Despite the ease and cheapness of the internet when it comes to shopping, I believe humans have an intrinsic tendancy to want to physically exchange money for goods
I for one would be sad to see HMV go, I personally enjoy the experience of walking into a shop and browsing, I find that my buying habits online are very different, I will only buy online using my gyors kölcsön if I know exactly what I want. This reminds me of a study I recently read which discovered that many people check out purchases online first before buying on the high street? Can on and offline shopping come together and benefit one another?? Only time will tell what the future holds For physical music retailers
